I agree. I thought The Exile was a peculiar venture; was very underwhelmed by the artwork, and also wondered what the hell Kenneth was doing there.

I enjoy the big novels and especially most of the Lord John books very much -- they're not immortal prose, but they're A Lot of Fun.

And yes, DG's fans can be *very* gushy.

BMHbrigid hamiltonhttp://ietextilesportfolio.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6996660.post-79775419497578727272010-11-03T08:12:33.104+02:002010-11-03T08:12:33.104+02:00Just for the heck of it, I looked at the 50 most r...Just for the heck of it, I looked at the 50 most recent customer reviews of ECHO on Amazon, and several common themes run through almost all of them. One is that the book badly needed an editor; that it seems cobbled together and rushed at the end, and the other is that DG has "sold out" to commercial interests. So my gut feeling that something has changed with DG in the past couple of years is shared by others who care enough to write reviews.

I'd go for a fully inflatable, 6'4" Jamie "action figure" myselfAntigonoshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01022875780607194845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6996660.post-18939672665949115442010-11-02T23:33:35.254+02:002010-11-02T23:33:35.254+02:00Hello! I was motivated to read this post from some of the discussion I found over on CS. I generally find your point of view thought provoking and even - at times - slightly irksome, but always well considered. In this post you are making what I consider to be a valid point - the conflict between 'art' and 'money'. The line is blurred, and getting blurrier, although certainly not only with Diana's work. The fact that you, as a self-proclaimed cynic, call our attention to this issue is, I think, healthy. It's okay - we don't all have to like everything. Personally I fall in the middle - the Outlander graphic novel is fun, but I'm pretty lukewarm about the musical... On the other hand, let me know when that Jamie fragrance is coming out - I need to get some for my husband. (wink-wink)ChristieHnoreply@blogger.com
